A Measurable, Science-Driven Training Experience

One of the most common challenges dentists face after successful expansion therapy or Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) is determining how to properly finish the case and restore a stable, comfortable occlusion. While expansion and airway-focused therapies can provide tremendous health benefits, they often leave patients with changes in tooth contact relationships that may not be fully appreciated using traditional occlusal indicators alone. As a result, patients can experience bite instability, muscle fatigue, jaw discomfort, headaches, and other symptoms associated with occlusal dysfunction.

This immersive 2-day program provides clinicians with a practical, objective pathway for evaluating and managing post-expansion and post-OAT occlusion using digital occlusal analysis and biometric data. Participants will learn how T-Scan technology quantifies force distribution and timing, allowing clinicians to identify premature contacts, excessive posterior friction, and prolonged excursive contacts that are often missed with articulating paper alone. When combined with electromyography (EMG), dentists can objectively evaluate how the masticatory muscles respond to occlusal loading and determine whether the bite is functioning efficiently.

A major focus of the course is the application of Disclusion Time Reduction (DTR), a scientifically documented treatment protocol designed to minimize posterior friction during excursive movements. Excessive posterior contact time can increase muscle hyperactivity and contribute to myofascial pain, TMD symptoms, muscle fatigue, and patient discomfort. By learning DTR principles, clinicians gain a predictable method for reducing these occlusal interferences and creating a more harmonious relationship between the teeth, muscles, and temporomandibular joints.

For doctors treating sleep apnea patients, expansion cases, orthodontic patients, or complex restorative cases, this course offers a missing piece of the treatment puzzle. It teaches clinicians how to objectively verify occlusal stability, improve patient comfort, and confidently complete cases using measurable data rather than subjective interpretation alone. The result is greater clinical certainty, improved patient outcomes, and a clearer understanding of how occlusion influences overall stomatognathic function.
